Financial conglomerate

Any group of companies under common control whose exclusive or predominant activities consist of providing significant services in at least two different financial sectors (banking, securities, insurance) (Definition in use of BIS). Or: Any group of companies having at least one insurance or reinsurance undertaking in combination with at least one firm from one or both of the banking and securities sectors (EU Financial Conglomerates Directive).
