Call risk

The possibility that prepayments will increase above an anticipated rate, causing earlier-than-expected return of principal, usually occurring during a time of falling interest rates. The risk to the lender is that if bonds are redeemed early, it may be impossible to reinvest the funds in a similar instrument with a similar yield.
